I can't tell you what made this pop into my head the other day, but I am now TOTALLY excited!
I remembered my Fashion Plates set from AGES ago.
I'm sure even the "younger" crowd remembers the rehash of this toy that came out probably 20 years later but I don't think it was nearly as cool as the original set.
I know I've said I was not a fashion-y kid but I do remember using this for hours and hours creating new combinations.
So yeah, I tracked a set down on eBay, paid way too much for it and it will soon be mine! Guess what I will be doing all day long after I get this home to me.
I may even have to buy the expansion pack they made for this.
Now, if I could only get a great deal on the Weebles Haunted House and the Fisher Price farm...
I still have both the original set and the extension pack somewhere in storage!
ReplyDeleteI got them for Christmas as a 1970s kid and loved them. I wasn't a fashion aware kid (I was a tomboy)and still loved playing with it.
Sooo jealous! Those were so much fun and seeing those pictures sure brings back a ton of memories of "borrowing" my sister's Fashion Plates, flattening that black crayon down to the holder and coloring for hours on end.
ReplyDeleteI wish she still had it :(
Oh my nerd! I use to have one...now I am feening for another.
ReplyDeleteI LOVED this! I played with mine for hours and hours as a kid! Ok, now I might have to go find one and buy it too...
ReplyDeleteoh my god this was my favorite thing to play with when I was younger! I have to go find mine now, I'm sure it's somewhere in my parent's basement. What a brill toy!
ReplyDeleteomg! I didn't even remember playing with those until I saw your blog. That was so much fun!
ReplyDeleteaw jeez!~ I loved this bad boy as a kid. Good stuff. You'll forget about the money spent when you have it in your hands - don't you think? :)
ReplyDeleteI had one as a kid also and last year a neighbour was getting ready to move and found one that her daughter had so she gave it to my girls, I had it put away and took it out today, they loved it. They played with it for 2 hours and not a sound. It brought back memories!
ReplyDeleteThe black crayon (so called) that came with it is wearing dow do anyone know where to get that piece too.
Thanks
Dee
