Not Nine West

I have always advised people to find a shoe designer or brand that uses a last that fits your foot.

For ages, I felt that Nine West was that moderate brand for me.  They had cute styles and usually fit well, if I could find my size.  But lately, I haven't given them a second look and, after going to the site to see what was new and exciting, I remembered why.

What is going on over at Nine West???  Their styles are all over the map.  The categories don't match up with what's under them (check out what they call "Baroque"!) and their presentation is looking remarkably low quality compared to their prices.

What I think is particularly telling is that their Editor's Picks in no way match what are ranked as Top Rated. Do they know their own customers any more?

They're are some good classic pumps and "go to" styles.  Even some less "out there" yet still trendy looks, but over all I'm sadly disappointed in the direction Nine West has headed.

Are you still shopping at Nine West and, if you've found anything you love, please share.

I feel like any that I find and like aren't actually ever on the Nine West store or online shop, but rather distributed through department stores & the like. Which is kind of a shame?

I used to love Nine West, but the last several years there has been nothing to love. About two years ago I found a pair in Nordstrom that I liked and that were a good quality. I mentioned the quality to the salesman, and he agreed. He told me that they had previously cut ties with Nine West because their craftsmanship and materials had gotten so shoddy. I guess that more or less forced them to improve, at least in the shoes that Nordstrom is selling. I notice that those you've posted are rather expensive for that brand. $300 for a pair of Nine West boots? That would be no.

That's a pretty hideous spread. If I wanted to spend $299, Nine West would be the last brand I would consider. Come to think of it, at that price point they wouldn't even be on my radar screen.

That's a pretty hideous line up.
If I were spending $300, NW wouldn't even make the consideration list.

When I first moved to Chicago in 2001, I was all about Nine West, and bought a ton of their shoes. But they are so UNCOMFORTABLE on my feet. So now I never consider buying them, and none remain in my closet. A nice mid-range brand is Circa Joan & David, though lately I haven't liked any of their styles. At least the quality and comfort is there.

I AGREE!!! I used to be a huge Nine West fan as I wear a size 11 and still find it hard to get a trendy shoe that is moderately priced but made well enough to last a few years or more with proper care. Their prices?!?! They have gone INSANE!!! I don't know who would pay $300 for a pair of shoes from Nine West...if I had that kind of money I'd get some Chie Miharas or B by Brian Atwoods. Since I do not and I'm sure most of their customers do not as well, I hope they soon return to their roots of ripping off the runways and allowind us "regular girls" to participate in trends without breaking the bank.
