Archiving the Future

Yep!

Already sick of Summer and ready for it to be Fall.  I couldn't even resist buying a cute cardigan, namely the Canine Cardi from Anthropologie's Archival Collection.

How adorable is this cardigan?  It's going to be so sweet with dresses but I plan on wearing it with pencil skirts, tights and chunky wingtip heels.

Sigh... when will the leaves change color and it be cool enough to wander outside in snuggly clothes again???

Hurry up, Autumn!

Ensemble du Jour: 7-6-11

Yeah!  An outfit post!

I really need to try to find time to take these in the morning because, as you can see, the lighting in my house is "dim" to put it kindly. Dismal and cave-like would be more appropriate.

But, I was so happy with my outfit today I decided to take some shots anyways.  I made the mistake of going into Target last night and ended up with a bunch of stuff. Some of it needed, none of it pricey ($8 tanks, tees and yoga capris, yes please! $19 comfy cute dresses, okay! Robe so I stop scaring the neighbors, yep!) and perfect for wearing to work and on weekends.

The first thing I wanted to wear was this really cute stripey jersey tank dress. And then I saw the bright apple green 3/4 sleeve cardi.  I have to admit here that I am hopeless at mixing patters.  I love it on others, aspire to it and then fall into the trap of matchy-matchy all the time.  So here's my happy little mixing outfit... I paired black and white stripes with a leopard belt and shoes.

WHOA!!!!

I know, I know, CRAZY TIME!!!!

This dress is so cute I got in solid red too.  Get ready for, wait for it... color-blocking!  Shut the font door!

It does have this nice little princess-seaming element.  Not a bad little detail for a less-than-$20 dress.

I'm loving the color/pattern combo.

For jewelry, I'm also mixing but more like matching - my Wendy Brandes "Chicken on Nest" necklace and my new "vegan" hen necklace from Julep115 via Etsy.

For shoes I wore my Coach (circa 2003-2004???) Tully leopard/oscelot kitten heels.

I do love a good kitten heel.

Grosgrain bows and heel detail.

I took a bunch more shots tonight so I have a lot to share over the next few days.

Onward into year five!

Ensemble du Jour: 6-4-11

More outfit photos!  Can you believe it?

So, I spent a week miserable from sunburn and basically not wanting to go outside ever again.  When I did go out on Saturday I decided I was going to be as covered up as possible while still looking cute. Which means: dress, cardigan, espadrilles, parasol, hat and sunglasses.

I bought this white dress a few months ago knowing I'd want something cool to walk around in and it really is perfect for a hot day.  The good thing is I have a ton of cute shoes I can pair this with, from espadrilles to oxfords.

The dress is the "Who's That Girl" dress from ModCloth and the adjustable tie and straps are great, plus it's lined.

There are my shoes!

Wedge Espadrilles are the SUV of the shoe world.  These are Mossimo from Target.

I got to break out my Cambridge Satchel, finally.  It was going to go to New York but I didn't have the room, plus I wouldn't have wanted to take it out in the rain so I guess it's a good think it stayed home.

We went to a town event held at our Park. It's funny how stuck in a rut people get about clothes.  This may not be true in bigger cities but here in North Carolina, I am a fish out of water fashion-wise. I was just walking around on the sidewalks and then running some errands but, even though I was dressed very comfortably and simply with non-fancy or pricey clothes, people were gaping. If you don't wear shorts/sneakers/jeans/flip-flops/t-shirts you are out of the comfort zone.

Not that I care.

The husband said I looked very clean and pretty and dressier then him but that's most of the time anyways.  It doesn't bother me how surprised other people are but I do find it funny.

Do you all get this kind of response when you "dress-up" a bit out of the "norm"?

Ensemble Du Jour: 6-3-11

Yep, it's been a while since I've done an outfit post.  And I had to brave afternoon heat stroke and mosquitoes to get this.  How do you people do it???  Hat's off to you!

It was Friday and hot so I'm in a simple outfit - red 3/4 sleeve cardigan and madras skirt from Target paired with my new Prada Minimal Baroque sunglasses and espadrilles.

I really love these red and white polka-dot wedge espadrilles from Payless. In my small size they are totally Minnie Mouse shoes.

My new glasses had arrived that day so I couldn't resist taking a picture of my Miu Miu glasses and Pradas together.

Ensemble du Jour - 6-22-10

I had actually planned on wearing this top with the rose print skirt from yesterday but the colors didn't really work. So I saved it and went for a more streamlined yet still soft look with a charcoal cropped cardigan and a khaki pencil skirt.

I really like these three colors together. They are all dreamy and pair together to in a nice feminine way.

The rosette on the shirt is such a neat element and becomes the focal point.

What I really wanted to wear, though, were these pale pink heeled sandals. They're the same color as the top with organza butterflies on the heels. The grey cardigan picks up the grey stripe on the wings.

The heels are Colin Stuart from ages ago. The butterflies are still holding up, thank goodness!

I believe I got them from the Victoria's Secret catalog 8+ years ago. They were not expensive, as far as I can remember. The top was from Anthropologie and the skirt and cardigan were from Target.

Ensemble du Jour - 6-21-10

I started off last week with quite a bit of pink going on. I really love a pretty patterned skirt and have had this one for a number of years.

The fabric is a beautiful chartruse-y green with old-fashioned roses in pink and yellow.

I wore a pink JCrew cardigan over a pink cami and paired this with bright pink patent Christian Louboutin simple pumps.

These are really are a comfy pair of heels.

It was Monday but it felt better to be bright and cheerful starting the week.

Ensemble du Jour - 6-6-10

I don't have arty rooftops like all you cool NYC people. No, I have a corner of my work building that has a grill, two plastic chairs and a random pallet. Plus mosquitos so I have to run out, grab a snap and run back in before I get eaten alive.

But the dress is cute!

This is my other JCrew romper-ish dress. It's grey with pink and yellow flowers and I paired it with a JCrew cardigan and the Luella pink and purple heart heels.

The colors are all so cute together. I'm all bows and hearts and flowers.

This outfit is so comfy and perfect for Summer that I wore it to Saks over the weekend but paired it with the Jeffrey Campbell unicorn heels, since the purse I was using has gold hardware.

The two dresses are great for the summer, but it's been so hot I hate everything else. Summer is my least favorite season. But I can't wait for Fall!

Serious Nerd-age

I've just spent way too much time playing around on the Starbucks website.

I custom created my Frappuccino (Grande, Decaf, Soy, No Whip, Mocha, by the way.)

Bought a custom card (pretty, huh?)...

And downloaded the two apps to my iPhone.

Yes, these are the lengths I will go to in order to avoid doing the actual work I need to do.

But really I am just way too excited to be able to drink my ice-y blended favorites now that they are custom and have SOY MILK as an option!!!

Yeah for Starbucks!

Oh, I even got a reusable, refillable cup to keep from having to recycle all the cups from the many frappes I plan on drinking. Less Impact, yeah!

Of course I'll be hopped up on sugar all Summer but now I have the choice.

Ensemble du Jour - 5-10-2010

I did a bit of a reverse "haul" over the weekend. I took back 4 dresses (2 of the Target/Zac Posen ruffle dresses and two JCrew chiffon dresses) because they were just not thrilling me. While they were cute, they just didn't seem to perfectly fit me or my life, so better to take them back and have someone else give them a good home.

Okay, maybe it was more like a status-quo haul because in JCrew I was instantly smitten by these adorable "Frankie" bubble dresses. At first I thought they were rompers with bows (so cute!) but they are actually dresses. They fit great, are cheaper than the Target dresses and so comfortable! I had to wear one today and I feel so cute.

I'm wearing the lavender one today with a navy cardigan and my Miu Miu kitten mary janes.

I love the bow! They come in a navy and a peach as well, and these really cute floral prints. I got the light grey with pink flowers.

And a cute pink cardi to match. I might have to go back for a grey cardigan as well.

These dresses are cute for work and for running around on the weekends. In fact I can't wait to pair these up with all kind of colors and cute heels and sandals.
