Ensemble du Jour - 9-20-10

This is pretty typical work outfit: Merona cardigan, black cami and black and white houndstooth skirt - all from Target.

I have a ton of basic clothes from Target.  But since I'm not shopping there while they continue to support politicians who advocate against human rights, I'm going to have to branch out to other options... and cut back, which I need to do anyways.

The shoes are "Jessica" by Lilibee.  I've had these for a while and I like that they are a neat little spin on the typical black patent mary jane. Details like the stacked wood inset on the heel, the large shiny buckles and the fun oversized cord stitching.

My work outfits can vary quite a bit based on my mood (and what's new in my closet) - from a tulle skirt to triple-laced-up knee-high boots, but this straight-forward look is almost a uniform... and helps be get out of the house when I'm running late.

Ensemble du Jour

I was really impressed and inspired by the Kate Spade Fall Lookbook. These clothes are totally in line with how I would like to dress this Fall. Cute. Whimsical. Filled with flirtatiousness and color. I actually think these would be really doable by Target too, don't you think.

But since the prices for the Kate pieces are pretty high, I'm going to have to try and recreate this wardrobe myself. I do have some graphic pieces already and I love colorful tights so I think I can make this happen... with maybe a few additions.

One thing I wanted to try was the whole mid-calf/knee-sock look done both by Kate Spade and by JCrew this season, especially when I found some really bright red socks I had after switching my closets this past weekend.

I'm not quite sure how I feel bout the skirt look but, hey... I'm willing to look a bit ridiculous for a day.

The top is from Anthropologie from about 5 - 6 years ago (I love this neckline detail), the skirt I just bought from Target and the peep-toe patent shoes are Target too.

Here's the outfit sans socks.

A little more boring. More "normal", less quirky. Maybe more flattering but I like the bright pop of red better. Maybe taller socks next time or trying this calf or ankle sock & heel combo with cropped jeans or pants. What do you think?

Ensemble du Jour

I know it has been a while since I've done an outfit post. Between my traveling and then the hubby traveling and then having the last few weeks of rain and work hell, I've either not had anything interesting on or I just haven't had time to capture what I wore.

This week was short and I had meetings on top of meetings, including several with new and potential clients, so I did make more of an effort.

One outfit that I wore was this:

The outfit was a black camisole, pencil skirt and ribbed tights with vintage black 1960s pumps. Over that I wore my boucle/shiny houndstooth blazer from JCrew and a very special necklace.

Yes, I was very excited to recieve my Paraphernalia Menagerie Cpt Poulet Cultural Attache necklace. I had to wear it right away! I love so much of the Paraphernalia pieces but I especially love the chicken related pieces.

Isn't he handsome? He looks just like my Napoleon. I loves him! Oh, and if you love Paraphernalia too, there is usually a code in the ad over there to the right that you can use to get some of her great pieces at a discount. If you don't see one, just drop me a comment or an email!

Election Day Outfit

On this very important day, inspite of it being dreary rainy dismal day, I got out there to vote. I hope you did too.

In addition to my favorite accessory of the day I wore a black sweater dress from Target, my pink Lou Lou Loves You bow, Nine west Naples booties and (more) funky tights.

I love these bows! Now I need some matching knickers. ; )

Aren't these tights crazy? They're from Target and I luv them. One thing I have to say about Target's tights... they're very soft, almost slippery. They had these in all pink and black but I like the sporadic pink within the white and black.

Did you wear anything special when you went out to vote today?
