Redemption!

In spite of recent setbacks, I'm going to say that Stella McCartney has redeemed herself a bit with this lovely platform sandal. Not only is it very very pretty and worth showing, but I will give her a little love in celebration of her new website launch (plus, I love her perfume).

Yes, she's incorporating wood into this design as well, but the effect here is much lighter, girlier and summery. I would wear these in an instant.

I also like how the mix of materials all work so well together. The blond wood, slight lug sole, and mesh heel - they all are casual and combine to make the diamante-encrusted strap look even more sparkly and delicate.

You can get a close up view to see all the details at the site. Can't you imagine these shining in the sun with every step?

They are pricey ($1200), like the others in this collection, but I love them. Luckily they start at 36 and not in my size! I would be seriously tempted by them.

When Good Designers Go Bad

I do not know what is going on over there at Stella McCartney's offices but I think they are losing their minds.

Last season I was loving on their neon pink satin platform heels and t-strap pumps but now all the love has gone far far away. Maybe someone took an Epcot trip or they saw documentary or something because there is no way these designs have their roots in a real cultural experience.

And I appreciate the vegan materials, but sometimes it is better to just not create. Don't waste the plastic and cheap denim.

These woven nylon pumps ($595) have to be made out of old bags and twist-ties.

And the prices are astronomical. $500, $600.... okay, I guess. $1000 +? Um, No.

No, these are not from the Daisy Duke/Paris Hilton/Jessica Simpson collection. And yes, they are $1195.

And these.... I don't even know what to say. I'm sure they're supposed to look all elegant tribal, but they just look like they weigh 5 pounds and I know that heel cup would end up under my foot and kill me.

Plus, they're $1165. $1165!!!!

If you want beautiful, unique and with true artistry, check out the Shompole collection.

Leave this mess alone.

Ensemble du Jour

The Outfit
Today is still sort of warm (80's!) but drizzly, so it's too warm for new sweaters or sweater dresses and I don't want to wear any fancy shoes for fear of rain. What to wear? What to wear?

I actually didn't even want to wear a skirt today to I pulled out one of my few pairs of pants. They're actually cropped pants in a light mocha plaid from Target (of course). I paired them with a heathery brown sweater, my wood bangle and leopard ballet flats.

My "model" looks a bit weird here. I think I need to work on my Polyvore skills.

The Focal Point
I really want to be home in a blankie so I'm all about cozy and comfortable and texture.

Ensemble du Jour

The Outfit
So this was technically my outfit yesterday, but I was having some issues getting my images to my computer. I wore a green v-neck cable-knit sweater and a straight brown skirt. With it I wore my green and white heels.

I know I in my Polyvore outfits, I don't often look like I'm all accessorized up, but here is a shot of me accessories du jour - the green and white preppy-ish heels, a wood bangle bracelet and a really cool carved stone necklace.

Here's the shoes:

The Focal Point
My very cool and interesting necklace. I bought this in San Francisco's Chinatown about a year ago. The large pendant is dark brown carved stone piece and the smaller beads are a lighter tone of brown, also heavily carved.

The necklace is dark brown and heavily knotted and braided so that it is very textured which accentuates the carved stone pieces. It also has a flirty little tassle.

I love vintage jewelry but I love pieces like this too. It's new and wasn't very expensive, but it has a lot of texture and is a great length and has presence. And I wear it again and again.

Yeah! Cheap stuff!
