Pretty and Good and Things

I always love a new sweet hair accessory. Especially the ones I get from Mary at Pretty Good Things. She has such a talent for creating cute and quirky fascinators and bands and pins that I simply must have!

Plus she's super fun and cute herself...

This time around (I think I now have 8 of her pieces!)  I had to have this whimsical donut...

and this headband made with vintage deer figurines. It can be dressed for the holidays, as shown, or just a cute string of little deer.

As soon as Spring really makes an appearance, I will pair these with woodland print dresses and all the pastels in my closet!

Super Selects

The reason I haven't done a ton of Fashion Week comments or coverage is the same reason I'm not there in person doing comments and coverage... I'm swamped with work, stuff at home and I'm exhausted.

That said, I've made a bit of effort to look though the online images and have a very few favorites.  I'm also dodging all the fur that seems to be everywhere.  Gag!

So, like many people I'm sure, I loved Marc Jacobs' show. How could I not with a mix of paillettes, polka-dots and little hats.

I think Marc should have hit up Mary from Pretty Good Things to make his mini berets. She has done them to amazing effect in the past.

And of all the shoes I've seen, these two-toned boots from Betsey Johnson are my favorites.  I'm not sure what happened to me, I'm more interested in flats than heels!

Any favorites for you out there?

Tempting Toppers

I'm very excited to be getting/have purchased some new delicious little fascinators to perch upon my noggin.  I do have a vintage piece I recently scored that I need to shoot but the pieces below are from two of my favorite talented designers. both available on their dedicated sites and on Etsy.

First up, from Topsy Turvy Designs, is the slightly wicked Candy Apple.  Kim's designs are lush, detailed and simply amazing.  I need to find a way to get one of her tricorn hats into my life.   The apple, I've had my eye on (sans fly) and will be a dark counterpoint to my Agent Lover Cake hat.

I also snatched up two other adorable pieces from Mary at Pretty Good Things. She has somehow managed to bring all my whimsical dreams to life with her pieces.

I've had my eye on a Bun-Bun piece and her latest sale allowed me to nab it.  I think I need a black velvet one too.

I also grabbed the Meadow facinator too (on sale for only $5!).  I have Oh Deer! piece (super adorable - see it on me here) and a version with a hot pink base and pink butterflies... this combines them both!

It may be Winter but I can wear a green meadow all year long!

Hey, Sparkler! What's So Great About You?

It's time for another sparkly Sparkler!!!!

And who do we have with us today? None other than the talented Mary from Pretty Good Things (a favorite of mine!!!)

She does amazing adorable hair pieces but don't just listen to me, let's let the lady speak for herself...

Thanks for asking me to do this. It was harder than I thought! Everyone should try making these lists - it's good to remind yourself of things you take for granted or to find the positive in your life. Why not celebrate why you think you're great and how your life is great once in a while? Have you made a list?

Here you go:

* I love making, crafting, fixing, drawing, sewing, painting, DIYing...and I think I am pretty good at these things.

* I believe in biorhythms, sort of.

* So far, getting older is pretty awesome. The past few years have shown me that - hey! guess what? It's my life! I've observed how life falls into place without a struggle when I honor myself, listen to my heart and let me be me. I've learned I can do things I that I once thought were beyond me - and I can do them well (surprise!). I've also figured out that when I honor myself I make more genuine work. It shows and in the end it is better for this reason. I am looking forward to growing into a stronger more confident individual who sees the positive side of life and rolls with the punches on the daily. Because everything works out in the end!

* I am good at thinking in pictures. This is a problem when I can see the image of an object but can't find the word for a couple seconds.

* Rainbows and anything iridescent or sparkly makes me extra happy and makes me feel like I am 8. Baby animals (especially kitties) or excessively tiny or gigantic things also make me extra happy (especially if these excessively tiny or gigantic things are of normal sized objects.)

* I've accomplished most of my "what do you want to be when you grow up" list: artist, seamstress (my term at 6 was sew-er) and model (it counts even if it is for my own business, right?). Maybe we should all listen to our little selves...

* I have my own personal alarm clock in the form of my cat, Simon. He also tucks me in at night.

* I've managed to keep a hold of some of my bestest friends for around 20 years. I am pretty lucky because they are genuine, kind, generous, smart, hilarious and basically totally awesome.

* I get to crack up at least once a day because I have a hilarious boyfriend who also fits the friend description as mentioned above.

- Mary P.

Love it! Love it! Love it!

Okay... who's next?!? Come on, Sparkler, Spill it!

Ensemble du Jour

Today I was sweet in my blue and white dress, Pretty Good Things deer headband, F21 studded belt and Nine West heeled oxfords (Hey! Those shoes have the same stud detail, imagine!)

But tomorrow... no more Nice Girl!

I got my Wendy Brandes for francis Swear Rings and I'm gonna use 'em!

These rings are so awesome. Silver, large and shiny! You will get your point across with these.

And since I'm feeling sort of ass-kickish, I'm going to wear my new Aldo platform heels.

I had ordered these because I liked the look of the turned up toe detail. I didn't realize how TALL these suckers are. We are talking a good 6 inches tall. They are cah-razy!

So, I'm going to wear them with some very noticeable black lace tights or maybe my new tattoo tights. Not sure but we're going for intimidation here. Subtlety be dammed!

If I don't break my ankle by the end of the day, I'll be surprised but I will also try to make sure to take pics of these babies in action along with my foul-mouthed jewelry.

Doe a Deer

Going to the drugstore ended up with me getting a trio of dark sparkly eyeshadows and two matte dark red lipsticks to be played with.

So this:

Plus this adorable which arrived tonight...

Equals crazy make-up playtime!

That was relatively normal... then I started to test everything and clean out my make-up case which created the "drunken harlot look" (or so I was told! doh!)

Ignoring me... how freaking adorable is this?

I can not wait to wear this tomorrow. I haven't taken it off since I came home. Sadly I can't sleep in it. It really is the most comfortable headband I've evern worn too.

If you want to see someone else
looking adorable in this piece, check out Miss Mademoiselle Robot who is even shown wearing this in her site header.
