Party Glam - Owls, Sequins and Mohawks

On Saturday night, we went to a local "runway" charity event.   So since the event has a fashion-y spin to it, we decided to get a bit glam and have fun with our outfits.

The husband wore his new tux and I donned a shiny sequin patterned dress from LuLu's.

(insert obligatory bathroom selfie here!)

I wanted to be equally fun with the shoes and bag.  I mean the Kate Spade Night owl bag is always an adorable addition but how often can you really wear the YSL Mohawks.  They're just too kick-ass for everyday mortals.

Such a fun dress in person!

Even with a bold dress, at the end of the day the heels are still the star of the show.  I mean, I fell in love with them from just this image.  How can you resist in real life?

As per usual, we were a bit too much for the rest of the attendees, I'm sure.  But we certainly had fun!

Imitation = Flattery? ModCloth Out Owl Night Bag vs Kate Spade Night Owl Bag

I can't believe that I'm here again with ANOTHER product on ModCloth that is totally ripping off a Kate Spade design.

 Seriously, what the heck???

This time I felt a little sick to my stomach because I'm totally in love with the original design.

But let's get right to it. Here is the ModCloth Out Owl Night bag -

It is a shoddy replica of the Kate Spade Night Owl bag from last Fall/Winter -

Stop it! Stop it! Stop it!

I mean, there are some instances when the knock-off/inspiration is debatable such as with the Prada Flame wedges or with the Prada mary janes, but this is just as bad as Chloe boots or when the Kate Spade Enchantment Under The Sea coin purse was ripped off.

Kate Spade is a big fashion brand.  These are not hard to find or secret items.  Obviously the ModCloth supplier is aware of the designs and is totally stealing them (and making them worse in the process).

ModCloth, I really like a lot of your products, especially your dresses, but this is ridiculous!

UPDATE:

Update: we're pulling the bag from our site while we contact the vendor and look into this. Thanks

What Would You Pair?

I need some help!!!

Last year for my company Christmas party, I asked for your thoughts on two outfit options.   I ended up going with the poofy party dress and Manolos and had a splendid time.  Since you gave such good advice that time, what do you think I should do this year???
I am wearing a sequin sheath dress from JCrew topped with a tuxedo jacket.

The sequins are patterned in green, cold and silver and there is a raw edged liner as you can see here.

I'm totally considering pairing this with my vintage top hat and the Kate Spade Night Owl bag.

So here are four narrowed down shoe options I'm considering:

1. Alexander Wang Anais silver tassle pumps

2. Christian Louboutin Yo Yo Zeppa suede peep-toes

3. Manolo Blahnik Urbana Nappa Oro gold sandals

4. Christian Louboutin Lucifer

So what do you think???

I'm leaning towards the Louboutin peep-toes but am totally open to suggestions.  Some back-up options are:

Camilla Skovgaard Chastity Sandals...

Camilla Skovgaard London Pumps...

... or the Prada Endless Spat boots....

What say you????

Le Sigh - Kate Spade Night Owl Bag

I'm not a huge purse gal but I am a sucker for whimsy and when I spied the Kate Spade Night Owl I was instantly smitten.

Yes, it's a bit silly.  Yes, I have no practical need for it.  Yes, it's a splurge.

But just look at it!  I'm totally anthropomorphizing it.   Love the googly eyes, the plump "body", the glossy mesh.

Must. Have. Owly.

Such a sweet polka dot interior too.

And look!  I can wear it fancy or with casual outfits too.  It's versatile, I tell ya!

I don't care what anyone (cough *my husband* cough) says... I need this!!!

Right?  Right?
