Crafty Crafterson

Last year I saw this adorable felt bow project on Twig and Thistle and new I had to make one of my own.  They actually used a tutorial from How About Orange on making bows from magazines and other papers as the inspiration for the felt version.

Isn't this sweet?  I love it on the presents as a special topper but it's so perfect as a classy yet festive holiday brooch.

I had almost forgotten about it but yesterday it popped into my mind again and I ran out to grab some felt.  Luckily I already had pin backs. It takes a bit of time to cut out all the strips so they stay even.  That was the longest step.  This is the first bow I made so it's a bit of a test bow but it turned out great, I think!

So, unoriginal, I know but I styled it with a grey blazer as well.  It jazzes up my otherwise boring work outfit of jeans and black flats.

The red bow is classic but I'm going to try a nice dark evergreen green (maybe for the hubby to wear) and I found this amazing alligator print embossed felt in red that I'm really excited to try out next.  I'll post pics.

If you want a simple yet festive bow to wear or decorate with this is it.  Plus it's inexpensive.  I only needed 1 piece of felt which is $0.29 and the pin back which are 50 for $3. If you have a glue gun already, you're set!

Blue for You

UPDATE - If you are interested in getting the Something Blue Manolo Blahniks, they are on pre-sale at the Bergdorfs site for $895 (and fixed on the Neiman Marcus site too - they were previously listed for $945, weird huh?).

I'm not sure what's going on with the pricing changes but I would go for the order asap. And take a screen grab too.

If you don't live in the state of New York, Bergdorfs is the better way to go. There is free shipping and you won't have to pay sales tax.

Just an FYI!

UPDATED AGAIN on 6-28-08 - Now they're both at $945! What the hell is going on here?

Ensemble du Jour

Hey! It's finally time to pull out some of my tall boots. Around here, it just gets too hot to wear them most of the time. Plus, today is my wedding anniversary and I'm feeling sassy!

The Outfit
Black Anne Taylor v-neck top with 3/4 sleeves. Target dress denim pleated skirt, tall black Nine West boots that I've had for-ever! And my wedding rings of course!

The Focal Point
While the boots are, of course, HAWT, my focal point is my vintage Art Nouvou pin. It's big and excessive, which is why I love it. I pinned it front and center - right at the base of the v on my shirt.

It's very intricate and layered and the mix of metals enables it to go with a variety of colors.

You can't deny the power of iconic, sexy pieces. No matter how you are feeling or look, if you have a few key pieces you are going to still turn some heads. My outfit is pretty tame but the minute I put those tall boots on, I'm bound to get some attention. I was walking out to go to work and my hubby asked if I was taking the whip with me today? Ha ha ha!

Men soooo love the sexy shoes.
