Ensemble du Jour

I did wear something today that I didn't need the camera for, so I can share that with you.

The Outfit
My favorite cropped jeans (I went and bought another pair!) and my grey and pink floral/butterfly print top, both from Target. I brought along my cropped grey Proenza Schouler cardigan from the Go line. But I actually haven't had to put it on here in the office.

For jewelry I'm just wearing my wedding rings, a square cut pink diamond ring and my silver Champagne necklace.

It's a little washed out looking here but I love the pattern in this fabric. The butterflies are so cute. I have an umbrella that almost perfectly matches this too.

The Focal Point
I love the combination of this fuchsia pink and medium grey. I think it goes so well together. Those paired with the dark indigo wash makes for a nice combo. And the super-sparkly Manolos pop against the dark wash too.

This is a nice warmer weather look without being too exposed at work - cropped pants, babydoll top and cute colors.

The Mondrian Heel

Even though blatant creative theft bugs the heck out of me, it does push the designers to be more creative and to come up with unique designs and add new and diferent elements to their shoes.

And they're using these unique features in their marketing to help them stand out. I got an email today from Jimmy Choo introducing their new Mondrian Heel.

Isn't that a cool shape? I'm such a sucker for a cool heel or profile shape and this stands out for me. What is great is that they can get a lot of play out of mixing up colors in the heel and on the sole of the shoe. It's like hidden real estate. An extra canvas for the designers to embellish with more and more combinations.

I really like the look of the two-tone heel because it emphasizes the decent of the line. Sadly, I don't like the entire shoe as much. I think Idol's hot pink platform just went a step too far. If they had kept it black I probably would have been still on board with it.

But I think they did a tremendous job with the Owen heel. It's glossy and classy with a perfect shape and that great heel.

This I would buy in a minute. It's the epitome of a power shoe. And as it is a chunkier heel, it can provide the extra stability, although it does look pretty high!

I may just have to save my pennies for this one! Of couse I'm still waiting for my Valentino dream shoe to be created.

Ensemble du Jour

The Outfit
I'm very happy with my outfit today. I think the shapes and colors look really good on me and reflect my personality. The top and skirt are not that unusual but they fit well and have a fun pattern. But then you mix in the bright fuchsia tights and peep-toe shoes and you get a fun look that is girly and just a bit quirky (at least for my office anyways).

The tights are from JCrew and the skirt, top and heels are from Target.

The Focal Point
I think it's mostly the fact that I feel really happy and comfortable in this outfit. It's also about the total mix of colors. I like the bright pop of pink and how the tights let me bring in a lighter-weight skirt for a cooler weather wear.

Ensemble du Jour

I was going to post my outfit yesterday but couldn't get a good Polyvore going of it. The main thing I liked was just my tights and shoes anyways. They were the magenta Guess Pyramid slingbacks and I paired them with a the deep purple tights I mentioned the other day. The outfit was a grey pleated skirt and a grey plaid jacket that had stripes in the magenta and purple tones.

But on to today.

The Outfit
Its Friday and I wanted to wear some jeans, plus it's an excuse to wear more sparkly shoes. I'm wearing the very Barbie-esque sequin Manolos.

So, Gap jeans, grey cropped cardigan and pink/grey baby doll shirt from Target, pink heels and pink scarf.

This is the pattern on the shirt. It's grey and pink with darker pink butterflies.

Accessories shot! I finally got my vintage bag fixed by my amazing shoe guy so I have that, some pink knit gloves and my pink vintage sunglasses.

The Focal Point
Today's outfit is brought to you by the color PINK!

This might possibly, sort of be one of my favorite songs! I'm not saying, but maybe.

; )

That Rosy Glow

The other day I mentioned that I was having some challenges regarding the sequined Manolos in Oro. I got all three of the shoes at the same time. The red and fuchsia pair where in more of a rounded toe style and grouped together on the BG site and the Oro pair was grouped with a version in black. They also looked like the heel was slightly different and pointier. My plan was to get them all, see which ones I liked and that fit, if any, and send back the rest.

But I was most excited to get the Oro pair. Now I know that Oro means gold. But if you look at the picture on the site (shown here) they seem to have a pink-ish cast to them which could possibly be extremely pretty. Also, in the item description on the site it reads: Choose Oro (blush, shown) or black (see below) sequins. And when you zoom in on the image there is a definite pink tone.

But when they arrived they were gold. Not rose gold and not at all blush, but full on gold. Shiny shiny gold. Almost tacky gold. And, as the heel isn't sequined but is just a plain shiny finish, it actually did look tacky. The husband, who usually doesn't not have much of an opinion on these matters agreed with me. Luckily these were 35.5s while the other two were 35s so they were too big anyways.

Since I was so surprised that I called customer service to see why they were so misrepresented and to see if maybe it was just my pair that looked so gold. They were going to track them down at the warehouse to see what the deal was. But I also decided to call the NYC store to see if they even had them in the stores and to see what their opinion was considering they were seeing them in person.

So when I called they said they looked pink-ish to them, not gold! What the heck!

But then they said they also had a pair in 35, which had not been available online when I place my other order. So for curiosity (and hopes sake) I said to send them to me. I could always return them if they still weren't what I wanted.

They arrived last night.

And they are definitely more pink, when you look at them in natural light you can see a big difference. And even better, the heel is fully sequined just like the other two! I don't think you can tell the color as much. Although it is not as "blush" as it is in the BG picture, more like a champagne, it is not the tacky gold like before.

The shape is different though. The Oro pair are much pointier and the sides near the toe-box are lower. And even though these are a 35, they're surprisingly still a little loose, which the others aren't.

I'm still deciding whether I'm going to keep the Oro pair. I'll have to test a shoe cushion insert which would help anyways because these are both really high heels. They're listed as 4 1/10" heels and I think that extra little bit pushes them over the top.

So my advice, if you want to get them is to try and get them through the store if you want the sequined heel. I'm not sure why they are different but I'm much happier with this version than the ones I got through the site.

Should I stay or should I go? Part Deux

I saw these Stella McCartney upturned platform heels months ago on Style and was quite smitten with them. I mean, what's not to like? The intense fuchsia, crazy-genius shape and they're satin. I love satin shoes. I like to live dangerously, ya know.

So when they finally went on sale at Bergdorfs, I had to pounce on them.

Well they arrived on Saturday and I eagerly ripped open the box to try them on. These are the first pair of Stella McCartney shoes I've bought and I was curious to see how well they were made given the whole vegetarian element.

Anyway, the picture does not even come close to how bright pink these are. The practically glow in dark and I love them.

But then I tried them on.

As I've mentioned, I wear a pretty small size and in most shoes I wear a 35, when I can get it, or a 35.5. So I had ordered a 35 not being sure how her shoes would run. The length was fine and the height was comfortable but the toe box was kind of uncomfortable. Okay, pretty uncomfortable. Not so uncomfortable that I can't stand or walk in them. Yeah, not for very long, but still.

But they're so pretty!

Well, after some deliberation and a husband consultation, I decided to put the pretty bright pink satin lovelies back in their box and ship them back to Bergdorfs for an exchange. I was going to try the 35.5s and see how they fit. I don't have a wide foot so I was really surprised they were cut so tight in that area.

I put the box in my car and was planning on dropping them off a the post office today. Then I looked at them online.

There are no 35.5s left.

Aaack!

Okay, we can try a 36. Add some inserts and they'll be fine.

There are no 36s left.

AAACK!!!

Crap! What do I do now??? I am extremely acquisitive so I hate to give these up. Even more so now that I know they are sold out in any size that could conceivably fit me. So do I send them back almost certainly to be a return rather than an exchange? Do I keep them and wear them even though they are kind of hard to wear? Or do I just get over it given that I put in an order for all three of the sequined Manolos?

Maybe I'll keep them in the car over Thanksgiving to wean myself off of them because right now I'm still in that "needing the patch, breaking the addiction" phase.

Ensemble du Jour

The Outfit
So I'm finally back at work and back in heels. Yeah! I've been holding out on wearing my Miu Miu Vernice heels (the ones I was debating about a while ago). I decided to keep them, obviously but I feel justified because Saks did a one day sale and had them 30% off! I had to go through the hassle of ordering a new pair and sending back my original ones, but it's a big savings, so it's worth it. They also has the La Silla Stardust heels on sale too, so I got those as well.

I wore this dress to dinner over when I was in Orlando (paired with Manolo black mary janes) and liked it so much , I decided to wear it today. It's a new Mizrahi polo dress with a white ruffle collar from Target. My tights from JCrew that were on back order also arrived on my doorstep while we were away, so I paired the graphic black and white with bright bright pink!

yeah, I stick my butt out just like that in this dress, cause, ya know I love my boo-tay.

The Focal Point
While I think the shoes are amazing and unique, I'm sure people are blinded by my hot pink legs, so I guess they are the focal point today. But just for fun, let's take another view of these uber-cool shoes:

What's black and white and pink all over....

Sassy, Elegant or Smoking Hot!

It is so not fair that I can't have all three of these Manolo Blahniks! I love Resort collections almost as much as Fall. They usually have such a great sense of humor.

I love everything about these Sequin Pumps. I just have to decide which persona I want to be. That's why it's so hard to choose. They all feel like me and they're all so wonderful!

A little Barbie-esque, girly sass in fuchsia.

Cool and elegant in the light pink-gold Oro.

Or classic Dorthy/Jessica Rabbit/Sexpot in crimson!

One of each please!
