Ensemble du Jour

It has been a busy busy week. Coming back from Vegas I had to plunge right back into work and my campaign! Yep, I'm running for town office so I have to be all political.

Don't believe me? Here I am getting grilled in "candidate forum". I hope you can pick me out.

To look all trustworthy and candidate-y I wore a black cami, pencil skirt and tights, my dependable Aerosoles buckle shoes, paired up with my favorite JCrew Astrid jacket in bright blue.

10-19-09

On Wedneday I finally got to wear my new vintage band jacket. I know I'm late to the band/military jackets trend but I'm picky and this was the first one that really met my criteria with fit, color, embellishments and cost. So, yeah, I love it.

The style of this jacket is open so I wore a cami underneath.

Worn with new toothpick jeans from JCrew (which I think I need a size down) and my Ann D. boots.

I will be wearing these boots forever. I just can't get over them.

Yesterday I had a client meeting so I was back to jacket and skirt

I've been wanting a velvet jacket (still looking for a green one!) and loved the soft grey color of this one from JCrew. It from this season if you like it and it comes in other pretty colors.

I'm all about pencil skirts now. I used to love a-lines and wore them all the time but the pencil shape is so flattering and versitile. This purple tweed one just came from Target.

The jacket was such a soft snuggly grey I knew my equally soft and delicate Head over Heels bird pumps.

It's been a busy week. Today I'm wearing brown and orange and looking 1970s... images soon!

What do you think? Liking the more outfit images? I'm trying to be better about taking pics.

Week In Review

What's been going on this week? Well, I've had a ton of work so I've been running around. I'm also trying to keep up with my "chores" during the week so I don't have to spend all weekend staring at a huge pile of laundry while I watch 10 hours of The Tenth Kingdom.

And then I get sucked into Twitter and goof off on Flicker, so I've been slack about playing on Polyvore or updating with outfits and all.

On Monday I wore this outfit - light weight argyle sweater from Target and Gap denim pencil skirt.

Yes, I'm wearing argyle again! I want Fall to get here already. I'm pining away for cool weather and sleeping with the windows open.

I wanted to wear my new Report heels with their cute little v-notch so everything was around the grey of these.

Yesterday I remembered I had these cute micro-fishnets in pink so I decided to wear them with a black jersey top and my flippy black skirt from Old Navy.

I have some pink and black kitten heels but in the end I wore my grey Head over Heels bird pumps in all their super-soft grey suede lusciousness.

I'd just sit there and stare at them all day if I could.

Today's outfit is in honor of Miss WendyB and how she is on the forefront of the "bringing rolled-up jeans back" trend.

I just used my Gap jeans and, since they are long despite being Ankle length, they could stand to be rolled up. I pulled out a weird mix of clothes and accessories to wear with them.

First of all is this crazy vintage necklace of winged serpents. I've had this piece since early high school. No "now we know it's vintage!" jokes, I just had a birthday. Don't rub it in.

Maybe I really had Miss Wendy on my mind when I pulled this out of the back of my jewelry drawer.

I liked the shiny brassy gold color and was pairing it with a textured 3/4 sleeve jacket, so yes, let's layer on some very patterned shoes. Why not!

See.... rolled up!

Okay, who's next?

Ensemble du Jour

The Outfit
I was feeling kind of soft and dreamy today. It gave me the opportunity to wear my new grey suede and pink satin Head Over Heel pumps. It's still pretty chilly but I don't have a ton of white sweaters. So I wore my vintage Izod v-neck sweater over a white camisole. My pleated skirt from Target is the same delicate shade of grey as the heels. I also wore a necklace of pink quartz.

These heels are so soft and happen to be very very comfortable. I just worry that I will blemish them somehow. They are just almost too pretty to be worn.

I love the birdies...

The Focal Point
I hope this doesn't make it too gimmcky. It might, but oh well.

I was inspired by a Susie Bubble purchase. The ever-delightful Susie found these charming bird headbands from Buddug. I will totally admit that I am using her idea. Her headbands are adorable and I may still order some from her. They are not expensive at all and her birdies are so pretty. I actually had gone to Michael's for some other things and got some birds and butterflies made of feathers and wood to make headbands and some hair combs. This dove was one that I had left over from another project.

The headband is a simple skinny band with faux pearls all along it. All I had to do was glue-gun the bird to the band and in 20 seconds I was done. I got birds in soft colors like pink and orange and made a whole bunch to wear. I like the lighter tones to go with my Spring wardrobe. Susie's crow would be good for Fall or with an evening outfit.

The funniest thing to me is that I walked into my office wearing the headband and wore it all day. I didn't get a lot of comments asking what was going on with me wearing a bird on my head. I've come to the realization that my co-workers think I'm totally nuts and have just decided to humor me. I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing.

Fly, Fly Away

If you thought the birdies were pretty on the grey suede and pink pumps, you might also like these delicately shaded sandals with the same bird pattern, although now it is in the lightest teal.

I just adore the color on these. They also come in a great swirly coral pattern too which I think will be a huge color in spring and summer.

I'll Fly Away

I saw these heels from Head Over Heels over on the Schuh's website a while back but they didn't carry my size so I sort of forgot about them. But then I was on the Shoewawa site and they were featuring them so I decided to take a quick peek at them again.

I'm still smitten and they carry my size. They're winging their way to me now.

I'm not going to fill this with a lot of words, just take a look at how adorable they are. That's pretty much all you need.

Adorable round toe, pink and grey bird pattern edging and lining (I love the secret pattern) and the bird applique. They are pretty close to perfect.

The only problem is that it was hard for me to choose the grey or the black, which is equally cute.

In the end I chose the grey. Maybe I'll end up getting the black pair too. Too cute!
