Don't Fake It

As you are reading this, you may already be too late.

At 11amET today, the CFDA/eBay "You Can't Fake Fashion" bags just went on sale.  I've had this on my calendar for a few weeks now and it was fun to jump on right at 11 and see all the designer interpretations.

While there were some fun and gorgeous options, each running $200 (for now!  I'm sure you'll see them for much more via re-sellers), I opted for one of the basic bags which were only $45. I got the Satchel tote with the side-ties.

I think I'm going to take some inspiration from the designers and customize mine myself.

I thought the Doo.Ri bag with written inspirational notes was a fun graphic look.

I also like the Libertine sequined version.  It's very shiny and bubbly.

























The money is going towards great causes and they project a message of valuing authentic work... something I can get behind!

Instant Access - 4/18 - 4/24

What a week!  Work is crazy so I feel like I'll I have time for is Instant Access Instagram pics!

I finally received my Knock-out nail polishes.  Aren't the bottles pretty?  I got Flatte Black, Powder, Flatte Top and Karen.

I also found the lace and houndstooth Salon Effects.  I'm not sure which I want to try first!

I had to give the matte polish a try.  It's thicker than regular polish so I need to get used to the application.  But I love it!

Can I just say that I love Libertine. Skulls and argyle go perfectly.

As do Manolos and hot pink toes. Aren't these Suleys amazing.

Tested out the new Esprit d'Oscar perfume.

More fuchsia! This time with neon orange, polka-dots and bows a la JCrew.

We had Friday off which I spent doing nothing but watching movies like Before Sunrise and Before Sunset. Plus it was rainy, so that's my excuse.  On Saturday our neighbor, a local artist, hosted a art show.

After rain Friday and Saturday, Sunday was gorgeous so I spent some of the morning outside with the flowers and the animals.

We also got a new hammock.  So my plans for doing work flew right out the window. Jealous, anyone?

This was an even better way to end the week.

Ensemble du Jour

The Outfit
Friday's outfit may be one more reason why I need to buy a full length mirror. I know. I know. I can’t believe I don’t have one either, especially since my favorite part of my day is staring at the reflections of my shoes wherever I can. And you can't do that in a bathroom medicine cabinet mirror.

Regardless, I need a full length mirror and I’m going to try and get one or make one before the month is out. Not just because last week I wore a tunic length sweater to work as a dress. I’m short but, I guess I’m not THAT short. In my defense, I did wear tights with it, but I was wearing heels too. I seriously didn't think it was that short, but I guess I should have gotten a clue when the husband said “Hey sexy” right as I was walking out of the house.

Anyhoo, coming back to Friday's outfit. The elements themselves seem tame enough - my Gap jeans, the Libertine skull v-neck sweater vest and a Libertine cardigan in navy and green, neutralized somewhat with tan Mizrahi driving moccasins.



All in all it doesn't seem to bad, right?

Yeah. Wrong.

These colors were totally out of control against my newly brighter hair. I felt like Jack Nicholson as the Joker in Batman. I really need to start giving myself more time to thing about my outfits and get ready in the morning. I got to work an when I saw myself in Ladies' Room mirror I was like "Holy Crap! I look like a demented clown dressed me today!"

Yeah, that sweater is going right in the Goodwill pile. It's cute enough, but on me look horrendous! I promise I won't be wearing that combo again.

Ensemble du Jour

The Outfit
So it's finally cooled off enough to wear some layers. I have been wanting to wear my Libertine argyle skull sweater vest so I paired it up with my long sleeve white shirt and a pair of cropped black pants. For jewelry, I have a vintage heart pendant made of ebony. I thought it would be fun to pair the skulls with a black heart.

I know skulls have been kind of over done, but I think that how they are done in the bright green and paired with the argyle pattern is fun and quirky. At first you might not notice them, but then you see them and have to laugh. I actually rolled up my sleeves so I have more of a 3/4 sleeve going.



I was debating what shoes to wear. I have a pair of creamy off-white heels that are edged in the same pink. But then I was thinking low-heeled boots - which is what I should have worn. But I was in a rush so I grabbed my Patent loafers. The shine is enough to give them interest but they don't compete too much with the sweater.
