The Big Reveal

Ages ago I shared my closets with you and bemoaned the fact that I would never have pretty storage or room to have my favorite shoes on display. Ever since then I've been thinking about creating more of a dressing room in the spare bedroom and on the hunt for glassed in bookshelves.

This was a challenge because I didn't want to spend too much but I could never just have my shoes out on an open shelf. Between a very dusty, drafty old house and 4 cats, there is no way it would happen.

But then I found these wonderful, reasonaby-priced, glass-door shelves from Ikea - Bergsbo! These suckers are HUGE and I instantly knew they would make my dream come true.

It took me a few hours each to put them together and they weighed a ton but they were worth it. Now I have two gorgeous displays for all of my favorite pretty shoes. I know I'm showing off but I have to share.

Click on any/all pictures to see BIG!

Cabinet #1 is filled with pinks, blacks, whites, silvers and purples -

Cabinet #2 is red, blues, neutrals, greens and golds -

I have to admit I get a bit giddy and giggly when I walk into the room. Now every morning when I'm getting dressed, it feels like I'm going shopping!

They really are beautifully presened and I am uber-jealous of some of the things in your collection! Lucky girl.

Do you happen to be a size 6? If so, can you leave your shoes to me in your will?

May I please come live in your shoe closet? It looks like heaven! You seriously have my dream shoe closet! Size 8 by chance :) haha. Love the glass cabinets. Might get these for my slow growing shoe collection- not near the names as yours though.

Thanks, ladies!

Faith, there may be a few 6s in there. I typically wear a 5 or 5.5 but sometimes have to try to work a 6 if they don't make them any smaller (and I really really want them!)

WOW WOW WOW - your collection is AH-MAY-ZING & I totally need to get one (or two) of these display cabinets - this is AWESOME!

I've been wanting to do this for so long. I hate having my shoes stored in clear bins stacked to the ceiling. I never feel like I can get to all my shoes and this is so how I want my collection to look. Great job!

Hi it's me again, sometimes I wear 5.5 in heels because of my high arches, esp. Via Spigas. So if you ever decide to sell some, let me know! :)

I have to say, those shoes are really pretty and are so organized. That Ikea glass door shelf is indeed a very useful one. My sister who is so in love with shoes also has some a similar shelf for her shoes. She also has lots of them. I do admire how you girls organize things. Maybe this will work for my stuffs, too. Thank you for sharing.

Did you take out a shelf to put clear glass as a shelf?

I love this idea! You have inspired me to display my shoes as well. Where did you get the bookcase? Was this at ikea as well? I do not know if they have the glass shelves anymore. :(

I am OBSESSED with this shoe display!! I just made a "little black book" with photos of all my shoes, booties and boots only to find that I have 94 pairs of foot wear!! The current rack system I have is nice, but this is great because of the doors!! I can't wait to get to IKEA!! Love your shoe collection too...like a work of art!!
