The tights are from Wolford, which I've have but haven't worn, and then paired with the "urban shoe myth" Manolo Blahnik Camparis.

Back in Black

It's hard to tell from the site's images, but the heel looks a bit lower than the pair that I have.  I'll have to go home and measure them.

Featured Shoe: Manolo Blahnik Nesti Slingbacks

I admit it, there are a lot of shoes that were on Sex and the City that I loved.  Sure, it's a bit cliche but for someone outside of the City, it introduced me to designers I had not know before.

One of my favorite style moments from the series came in Season 4, Episode 65 - "A Vogue Idea".

The episode was famous for the Vogue closet and the urban shoe myth, the Manolo Blahnik "Campari" black patent mary janes.

Yep, I had to have them and I love them, but there was another pair I had to track down as well.


I totally pined for this Vivienne Westwood suit that Carrie wore to her meeting at Vogue as well as the perfect taupe patent slingbacks she paired with it.  Check them out in action here.

I tried many other shoe hopefuls but I never found a good candidate.  Then one day I saw the following on the Saks website.  The are the Manolo Blahnik "Nesti" slingbacks.  Not quite the same shape and a bit pointier but perfect color, slingback and heel.  I was so excited!

But then I found out they were exclusive to Saks and they had not purchased my size... Oh Noes!!!

I called the buyer, the Manolo Blahnik rep, was going to special order a pair through the store... a real Shoe Search.  The Saks folks were great and helpful and even offered me a deal on another pair of Blahniks.  As I was mulling this over several weeks, my luck changed.  They did end up getting my size and the coveted shoes were mine!

These are the perfect neutral classy shoe.  I don't often suggest getting a "classic" heel when you are investing in a designer shoe but the exact shoe I wanted seemed so elusive that I had to grab it.  I'm so happy I did. 

The heel shape is stunning.

Celebrate the Odd

Happy Friday the 13th!

Walking On the Clouds

The trouble with Pre-Fall is that you start to see very early gorgeous pieces come out but you have decide... do you get something beautiful now or do you hold out to see if there is something even more amazing down the road? And if you wait, will the early pieces be sold out? Or will you just fall in love with everything and have too much to choose from?

Decisions, decisions.

Here's a perfect example, stunning turquoise snakeskin "Campari" Manolo mary janes.



I have these exact shoes in red and they are amazing. But the bright blue is one of my favorite colors.



If this is Pre-Fall, I have high hopes for the rest of the season.

Ensemble du Jour

The Outfit
I've been dying to wear some of my new purchases. I wanted to wear those gold shoe-boots from eBay but I have a meeting and didn't want to look too crazy. So I grabbed new red snakeskin Manolos that I had bought on sale and built my outfit around that.

I'm wearing my new JCrew Sparkle Tartan Madeline blouse in Midnight, a black camisole (the JCrew top is pretty sheer), my black pencil skirt and my vintage ring on a chain as a necklace.



This shirt is a little frou-frou, but I don't think it's too overwhelming. The sleeves are a little voluminous but I love the ruffle collar.



The Focal Point
But it's all about the Manolos. The silver thread in the shirt picks up the shine of the heels and the red color is quite bold, especially in contrast to the dark of the outfit. I'm wearing a muted red lip to tie it together and I brought along a vintage red lizard bag to decant for going to lunch and to my meeting.



The outfit has a lot of classic elements but done in a kind of sassy way.

The Tradition Continues

What's as traditional during the holidays as egg nog and twinkling lights??? After Christmas shopping!

Whether you're using up your gift cards, exchanging for something you really want or just taking advantage of all the sales, day after Christmas shopping is as big as Black Friday.

Last night before I went to bed, I got a few early bargains, and now I'm on my way out the door to get a few other "necessities". So I'll have to post about the actual Christmas stuff when I get back.

I got these fab Manolo Campari mary janes in red snakeskin from Bergdorfs:



I have them in black patent too, although these are a half inch shorter in the heel.

I also did my first purchasing from YOOX.com and found they have a ton of great shoes! I really had to limit myself as the main reason I was on there was to get this lovely skirt which StyleSpy had featured a while back:



I didn't get the Ann Taylor black sequin skirt I wanted but I really liked this one too. Here's the back view:



Also on YOOX I found these Claudio Merazzi dark green velvet pumps that are embellished with gold metal heel and "buckle". I can't wait to see how these look.



I'm seriously debating getting some items on JCrew, Neimans (great sale going on) and Anthropologie but I'm just not committed yet.
