Ensemble du Jour

I'm trying to catch up on my outfit posts. Sadly, my day-to-day small camera is, as I've mentioned, crap. And getting dark by 5pm really impedes on my picture taking time. So I made the hubby take pics today of my outfits from during the week.

This is what I wore on Wednesday. Quite a long day since we had vet appointments for the dogs and then I taught a class that night and then came home to do more work... so basically I was on the go from 6:30a.m. until 1:00a.m.

At least I was comfy.

It was chilly but not overly so.

I wore a black Merona baby-doll style jacket over a red Gap v-neck which was paired with a creme mini-skirt from Anthropologie.

I have a huge collection of vintage gloves and I really love to wear wrist-length ones, especially if they have a neat element like these with the stitching and scalloped edges.

These gloves are usually just a few dollars so grab them when you can. I think I have about 15 pairs and they aren't too precious so you can actually use them and not worry.

I like how the glove detail matches the cut-out design on the Nine West Ruffle mary janes.

Color Study - Creams

When I started doing the Color Study for whites, I new I had a lot of neutral shoes to do as well and that they would be their own category, but as I was setting them all out there were quite a few pairs that didn't seem to fit in either group. To dark for whites but not really nude or neutrals.

So thus the cremes! Or cream. Or off-white. Whatever you prefer.

Not as big a group, only 15 here, but with a few lovely players.

I did get to take some nice shots though...

Okay, Row 1 - left to right:
- Isaac Mizrahi for Target Hannah in tan
- Martinez Valero Adam in stone linen
- Kate Spade Joan in a zebra-y pattern
- Paco Gil Oyat
- Naughty Monky Vishti in gold beaded

Row 2 - left to right:
- Nine West Eriley
- Via Spiga Branny
- Nicole Brundage Sinamon
- Alexandra Neel Coconut
- Ralph Lauren slingbacks

Row 3 - left to right:
- Enzo Angiolini Eamaxino
- Marc Jacobs Fab Rose
- Jimmy Choo Voyage
- Via Spiga Portillo
- Nina Melia

I just love the details in the group...

Ensemble du Jour

So even though I have a crummy camera, don't think I'm photogenic at all and am too embarrassed to ask someone to take better pics of me, I'm doing a real live here I am in the outfit post. Disclaimer, disclaimer, disclaimer.

Anyway.

On Wednesday, I was getting ready for work and I opened up my armoire. I had on green and thought "maybe I should wear my cute boater." But then I didn't. Why? Because I thought people would think I was a bit silly for wearing my hat.

WTF???

Well, that meant I had to wear one of my new vintage hat finds from the weekend. I have big plans for the hot pink fascinator, so that will have to wait until NYC (TWO WEEKS!!!) but I could wear the other one. A really neat pilbox-y brown hat with a big feather poof!

The outfit was the almost retro-looking plaid jacket and skirt from Target. I paired that with a Proenza Schouler for Target brown camisole. Here it is sans hat:

And with hat:

This hat is a bit silly but I love love love it!

It's it great condition and just fun.

I do need to fix the ribbon that goes around the peak but other than that it is perfect.

For shoes I wore this great pair of Enzo Angiolini peep-toes. They are suede and a sort of lace material.

Just a lovely girly shoe that fits great, is comfortable and, with the peep-toe and bow, adds to the retro vibe.

A perfect example of what I love - classic shape with a unique twist.

Oh, I also took today, Friday off, and got my hair cut. I cut a lot off the length and look! Bangs!

I think this weekend is going to be Seasonal Swap weekend. I'm sure that means I will be totally sick of half of what I own and realize I have nothing to wear with the other half. It is dangerous to do this right before going to NYC. I will have to ensure I don't blow all my money while I'm up there.

Ensemble du Jour

The Outfit

Today's outfit is part of my Fall mix and match separates. I bought the plaid skirt and jacket and then some knit tops. I've already worn this skirt with the jacket but I like the creme top with it too.

One of the reasons I wanted to get this top was to get more use out of a few pairs of creme heels that I have.

For jewelry, I just bough this lovely delicate necklace from a friend who makes jewelry. Isn't it darling? Little pearl charms that slide along the chain.

The Focal Point

But what I wanted to wear were my glittery cream peep-toe heels.

There are lots of dressy glittery shoes but most of the time they are red or silver or black. These are a creamy light gold satin and glitter.

Lush, puffy bows!

And a great curvy heel.

I bought these Nina Melia heels were bought at Zappos a while back. They also came in a great brown and a deep black - which you can still get on Amazon.

Ensemble du Jour

Is it weird that I can't remember what I wore to work on Monday? It was only three days ago and now I have no idea. I'm losing my friggin' mind. Seriously.

At least I can remember back to Tuesday. I wore this black shift dress from Target and a new cropped cardigan from Old Navy in olive. I did wear this big chunky pendant necklace which has a distressed chain. It looked pretty good together because the chain picked up the finish of the metal in the shoes.

Of course, I realized later, after swanking around feeling great all day that I had left the stupid size sticker on the front of the cardigan. Oh yeah, and no one told. Thanks, folks!

The shoes are my new "tough" pair from Nine West which I am totally in love with now. Not only are they cool but they are extremely comfortable. I mean, surprisingly so. And I got them for only $30 or so bucks on sale. That's cheaper than Target shoes.

Yesterday I wore my other Old Navy polka-dot skirt. The top was a jersey twist top from Ann Taylor. I should have bought 3 of them, they are that comfortable. And I wore a sparkly pink star pin to pull the accent colors together.

I actually thought about a few shoe options and had started by considering a lighter pink shoe but then remembered this sparkly Guess pair.

Happily the jeweled element has a tone of black in it which works back with the top so it looks good together.

Today's outfit is lame. It's raining. I'm off tomorrow, so today is my Friday and I'm being slack. I'm just wearing my Gap denim pencil skirt, a navy/red rugby stripe polo and my red Chuck Taylors. Although, according to my co-workers, me in flats is worth taking a picture of!

Imitation = Flattery?

In spite of them being obviously ridiculous and only for a runway show, you had to know that a shoe as recognizable as these platforms from the Dior 2007 ready-to-wear show would be knocked off sooner or later.

Well, Zinc, with their Josie platform heel, have tried their best. And I'm not saying it's a bad copy, but do you think the demand is there?

The color is pretty but do you think it's too clunky for all the light dresses and bright colors we have coming out for Spring?
