Back to Basics

Maybe its the fact that I've been a slacker for two weeks but I've been wanting more casual stuff.  Tees and sneakers. Of course I could drop a quick grand at JCrew because I'm always in love with their glam preppy style but what I'm tracking down right  now is this girly jersey shirt.  I actually saw it in a restaurant's shop with their slogan on it, but they stopped carrying the product.  While I would have loved their branded shirt too, I'm happy with the plain, as long as I can get the fuchsia on pink and the pink on chocolate.   I even have some matching sneakers to wear with them!

And speaking of sneakers, I can't stop thinking about buying more. Maybe it is the influence of all that oxford-wearing in the Fall, or the fact that I've barely put on anything other than Sorels, wellies or my Moroccan slippers for the last two weeks, but I'm not shopping the sales for heels.  I'm wanting tons of sneakers!

I'm particularly wanting the be-ribboned Satire sneakers from Simple.   I really love the brown (bison) and blue ribbon combination on the hemp ones here.

But the charcoal grey and pink is sweet as well.  And those grommets will keep your feet cool too, I bet.

And the black and sky blue is great too.

I've found the prices for this brand varies all over the web.  It's best to do a search and see what you can find, but the range as been from $25 - $60. They have some other sweet styles like cute oversized gingham in pale pink and a light tan that I'm also keeping my eye on.

But the real classics I love, besides Keds of course, are Converse Chuck Taylors. I started with white high-tops and off-white/natural low-tops, then got red low-tops, sequin ones and pink high-tops. I'm obsessed.

I really want to get a pair of basic black ones, but have held off.  Maybe now is the time.

But Converse does some amazing seasonal colors.  Right now their rolling out their Spring seasonal colors and they are just too adorable.   If I could, I'd get them all but since I have to narrow it down, I think I want this gorgeous lavender "Lupine".  I'd wear it with a sparkly necklace and lavender cardigan paired with jeans, a denim skirt or even dressing down a pencil skirt.

And this yellow, and yellow isn't even a color I really wear, has sucked me in.  It's called "Lemonade" on  the site but it reminds me of the light yellow SweeTarts. I needs them!

Okay, I need to go troll the web for some coupon codes, because I think I am going to have to get them all!

Ensemble du Jour - 6-11-10

This dress may be the best thing I've bought recently. I have worn it plain, with cardigans and camisoles. It's the perfect shape and color and is just really darn comfortable.

On Friday, I wore it to work with awhite cami underneath and my new "mouse" flats.

Yes, it's just a cotton jersey dress but it has some cute elements like the great deep v-neck and pleats on the shoulders and little tabs pulling in the waistline.

The hem has an unexpected band with raw edges which match the waist tabs.

My jewelry was equally simple. A large oval moonstone ring set in beaten silver and this necklace I made from my posey ring and a small crown charm.

And, of course the flats...

Cute!

How do you stay comfortable and cute at the same time?

Ensemble du Jour

Again, the days have been getting away from me. So I figured I should catch up on the outfits pronto!

After organizing my armoire out last weekend, I thought I would create outfits around some of my fun new accessories which have just been arriving. Something other than shoes for once!

On Monday, I wore a very colorful outfit. Everything was centered around my new Candy fascinator from WhichGoose. To go with it I wore a red top from Gap, a dressy denim pencil skirt, red tights and my Hetty Rose Ella mary janes.

I think the heels, being equally as colorful, were a good match for the hair piece. Both are colorful although it strikes me as funny how such an old fabric and the new pom-poms actually work well together.

I could say the heels get equal focus... I'd been thinking about wearing them with colorful tights for a while now.

Yesterday I was wanting to go the opposite - a bit more streamlined but playing with texture. I wore a grey jersey top that has a bit of silver metallic in the fabric, my new Kapow Wow neck ruffle (also in grey jersey), a black pencil skirt, black ribbed tights and Aerosole buckle heels in black patent. They happen to be one of my favorite shoes to wear. They are comfortable and versatile.

This neck ruffle is so cool! You can wear it a ton of different ways and is amazingly soft. I think it's a great option to a scarf or wrap for keeping your neck warm in the winter. Plus, I just love ruffles!

The other day I talked about seeing rosettes popping up in fashion, well today I got the chance to wear one of my new pieces from Shoe Missy. They are just adorable in person.

I wore the black and white plaid with my grey and black rugby stripe boyfriend cardigan from delia's. Underneath I wore a black camisole over one of my sale mini-skirts from Old Navy.

It was kind of crummy out so I wore my black Target flats with the big "jewels" on them.

This rosette looks blue and black here but it is actually black and white. I tried to take a picture of it on the sweater, because it looked so cute but my camera is just dying! I think I'm going to have to get a new one very very soon.

Now, I've been doing good so far this week actually planning outfits. What am I going to wear tomorrow? I've stayed up late too many nights in a row and my brain is just fried.

Maybe I'll think of something to wear with some of my fun knee-highs.

Hmmmmm......
