Excited for a Fluorescent Yellow Damask Cuff Bracelet

I'm so excited to have won this stunning Fluorescent Yellow Damask Cuff Bracelet from Rahya Designs via Miss Malprop.  I'm already picturing this paired with the tons of grey that I wear during the fall and winter.   It will keep the neon trend going and give me a much needed pop of color.

There is a lovely smoke grey version of this as well that I was really tempted to choose but I went with the bright instead.  Rahya makes a ton of other interesting pieces including rings and earrings.  Worth checking out!

Inspiration = Flattery? Chloe and ASOS

While not identical, the style similarities between the Chloe Patent Cap-toe Pumps with the plexi heel...

... and the ASOS Powertrip perspex pump are certainly there.

Dusky pinkish-taupe color, clear heel, cap-toe.

They both have a chunky look off-set by the delicate colors and clear element.  I have a weakness for this blush.

The price difference is great ($555 vs $77, both on sale) but that aside, which do you prefer?

Ensemble du Jour

I'm sure you can tell I'm a fan of JCrew. Their clothes appeal to the preppy classic eclectic in me like Anthropologie appeals the the more quirky classic.

I love the details and the layers because they pull together great color combinations and they mix up girly and streamlined.

I loved the looks in the latest Fall/Winter 2009 catalog and having just purchased a pair of matchstick cords, the FiFi ruffle cardigan and a sparkly necklace, I did my own JCrew-esque combination.

I'm not sure what it is about this but I find the white, black, sage, sparkly, pearls elements give a sort of deconstructed Chanel feel about it too. Maybe it's just me.

Ruffles! And rolled up cuffs, the better to see your shoes with, my dear!

Cardigan: FiFi from JCrew
Tee: Boyfriend tee from Target
Necklace - pearls: Gift
Necklace - sparkly: JCrew
Bracelet: Etsy by MediaSweetie
Cords: Matchstick cords in eucalyptus from JCrew
Peep-toes: Target

No Easter Bunny

When you're in the dead of winter you have dreams of spring to tide you over.

Well, my dreams were for these quirky ballet-style wedges from Junko Shimada. Back in October, when I first saw them, I hoped that they would be made. I even spoke with the designer's representative in Paris. They were not sure if they would even be made but the possibility was there.

Sadly, I just found out they will not be making them.

I’m really sorry but these shoes are not available anywhere. They were too expensive to produce so we decided not to do it. We tried but we didn’t have enough orders.
Maybe next collection shoes will be produced, we don’t know for the moment.

Well, I guess I'll just have to be sad and disappointed. I think these were the one pair of shoes I really really wanted to get from this spring's lines.

Ensemble du Jour

The Outfit
Another new top to wear today. I got this Mizrahi boatneck top on sale at Target. I like the color combo of the pink and orange. I wouldn't have paid full price for it but, marked down, it's not bad.

I paired it with my dressy denim pencil skirt and then to keep it clean I piled on some acrylic bangles and my vintage Trifari owl necklace.

The Focal Point
I know it may be a bit matchy-matchy but I have several pink heels and this gives me an excuse to wear them. These Charles David round-toe pumps are really cute in a Barbie-ish kind of way. The color is on the purple-y pink side but what also makes them different is the pony hair.

I have a ton of A-line skirts but I'm preferring to wear pencil skirts more and more. I just like the more streamlined silhouette better these days.

Ensemble du Jour

The Outfit
I wish that I had a mid-height skirt in brown, black and khaki. I think my skirts are either too long for the look I want sometimes or they're too short for work. I wanted to wear some of my knubby socks before the weather got too warm for it. But I think my skirt was too long for the effect I was going for.

I paired my swingy brown skirt with a brown corduroy blazer over a pink beaded camisole. All three are from Target.

To pick up some of the tones in the shoe I wore my khaki acrylic bracelet with pearls from Etsy.

I love these O Lovlies socks from Sock Dreams. They're very soft but I think the bottom edge of the skirt needs to be higher than the top of these to show them off to the best advantage. The ones I wore are a light pink.

The Focal Point
My colorful Miu Miu brogues. A lot of folks didn't take to the "wings" on these but I really liked them. I thought it gave them a neat element. I like so many things about these heels. They have great interior cushioning, the colors are cool, and I love the masculine elements of the wingtip design.

These were good with the muted tones for Fall, but I they should work well in Spring too. The colors are right for some of the delicate tones. They're a little chunky but the patchwork design and the patent helps them transition a bit. Although I think I will wear them bare-legged, not with any of the sheer hosiery coming into play.

Ensemble du Jour

The Outfit
I have to say, this cashmere dress from Gap maybe one of the best things I bought this fall. It's flattering and comfortable. Paired with black ribbed tights and my Nine West satin ankle booties, it's pretty much perfect.

This is a great chunky acrylic bracelet from eBay.

Guess what necklace I'm wearing???

The Focal Point
Well, I love the softness of the material but the length of the dress, the black tights and boots work to make me feel like my legs are all long and sexy. And you can't beat that, right?

Ensemble du Jour

The Outfit
I had planned on wearing this outfit yesterday but I felt so crummy that I worked from home most of the day and when I did finally go in to work for a few hours, I just wore jeans and a sweater.

So today's outfit is my v-neck light weight sweater from the Gap, a black pencil Mizrahi skirt, black ribbed tights and my black satin shoe-boots from Nine West.

It was raining when I came in and I didn't want to ruin my shoes so I wore my black with white polka-dot wellies.

For accessories, I wore a chunky Lucite bangle and a necklace I made myself from a barrel shaped lava stone bead.

The Focal Point
No, it's not my cleavage (this is a down angle shot, I don't think I look that saucy, really), it's the necklace I made. The lava stone is about an inch long and has a really neat matte texture to it. I like it because it is different and subtle.

I feel very streamlined and city today. Plus, I'm finally getting to wear some of my new clothes for Fall. I love tights and the Gap top is great. It's very soft and has a longer length which makes it go well with skirts and jeans. I'm sure to get a lot of use out of them.

BTW - I hate this new Polyvore system! Sorry for the weird cropping. Ugh!

Ensemble du Jour

The Outfit
I know dresses are very big but I tend to prefer the flexibility and mix-and-match capabilities of skirts and tops. But I'm trying to branch out so I bought a few solid knit and sweater dresses for this winter to pair with my new heels and tights/socks.

Yesterday I wore a new boatneck knit black dress from Old Navy and paired it with some chunky grey tights and my new Miu Miu Spazzolato spectator heels.

I felt very "Art Dowager" because I had my hair pulled back in a bun and had pared down my jewelry to some chunky statement pieces - my free-form acrylic bracelet and a big moonstone and silver ring.

The Focal Point
The dress was very comfy, although the front pockets were bugging me a little. The shoes, even though they are neutral, stole the shoe with their height, the "plastic" heel (the whole tan part is one piece) and the grey "wings".

These shoe are actually comfortable - for the office. Unfortunately I had a class and, unexpectedly, we had to go on this huge walking tour for almost 2 hours outside. I was a little ticked off by the end of that.

So, just a note: don't go on any hikes in these.

Ensemble du Jour

The Outfit
Not too exciting, but since I was pretty casual all last week, I at least look like I made an effort today. Black v-neck top, black swishy skirt, chunky acrylic bracelet and sparkly vintage pin.

It actually feels comfortable and good to be scrubbed up. I was feeling kind of grungy and run down from wearing casual stuff all last week.

The Focal Point
I finally had time to give myself a pedicure and paint my toes. So the focal point is actually my lovely crimson nail polish, but my white and black peep-toe heels with the adorable bows show them off to perfection.

Aren't they cute!!!
