Le Sigh - Lanvin Colorblock Satin Pump

I don't often fall for Lanvin shoes, but I'm smitten with these pumps.  I love the cool black, white and grey tones plus the raw edges.  These would be so perfect with opaque matte black tights and a pencil skirt.

Sigh.

Imitation = Flattery? Miu Miu and ShoesOne

I know, I know. It's probably getting old with these knock-off/rip-off features. I guess, I just can't get over the sheer audacity of some of these companies. Imagine how draining it must be for the actual designers. They toil over inspiration and to be innovative only to have another company come along a short while later and basically copy every answer off of their test.

Case in point: The Miu Miu crystal-embellished swallow mary janes.

I was crying over these. I literally called multiple stores in the US, the UK, Paris and Italy. NOTHING! They were all sold out. I don't think they even got them here in the US, which just kills me. I mean, these were the shoes of the season for me.

In the end, I got the navy kitty mary janes, which I love and have worn a ton. But when I saw these shoes pictured in the images below, I have to admit, I was tempted for a second. I mean, they are really recreating the design and they are selling them on ebay for $55 (on Filthy Magic for $200, yikes!)

I saw them first on Flithy Magic and thought it was just a blatent rip-off. But then I found the same ones on eBay and on that page they are pairing up their product shots with actual Miu Miu runway images and ads.

I think that is crossing the line.

I know how tempting these are. I'm even struggling with it myself but at the end of the day, can I live with giving my $55 to a rip-off artist? And if I knowingly go into that transaction, what does that say about me? If I "really want them" should I just buy them? And what would I answer, everytime someone asks about them. Does any of that matter?

I'm not going to get them and I actually reported the eBay ones for infringement (mostly because of the ads used in the listing) but it's an interesting discussion worth having.

What would you do and why? How would you answer people everytime they ask you if they are "real Miu Mius" ?

Cat and Mouse Games

My Dad made a joke asking if my new mouse flats squeaked. I wondered what my kitties would say...

Talus seems unimpressed. Maybe these kitties and mice will get along better.

Squeak! Meow!!!

3 Second Fashion Show - Double Denim Edition

When Wendy B and The Coveted tell you that Double Denim is in, you better listen to them! So this post goes out to them.

Of course, I don't do single denim very often (I have a pair of jeans, this skirt and this jacket) so you won't see much of the double denim trend on me. However, today I was feeling casual yet chilly, so double denim was it.

The jacket was from the SJP Bitten line, the top's from Old Navy and the skirt is Gap. I decided to tuck the darn shirt in after I saw this picture. Gah!

For shoes, I was equally relaxed - little printed satin flats from Old Navy too.

I never say never to the fashion trends.

*Cough, cough*... excuse me I meant Miu Miu!

Donning the Purple

I was looking back on some older posts and realized I went through a bit of a grey suede phase there and then I was all over blue satin too. I think I just get a color stuck in my head and fall in love with it, obsessively search it out and can't get enough.

Now I'm in love with purple/lavender/violet/fuschia heels. Not pink, because lord knows I have tons of pink (not that I'd turn more down! And, OMG! That list is from '97 and I know I have even more now!) And I realized, I don't think I have any shoes that are purple. I do have some with purple in them but no purple, no lavender, nothing!

Can that really be true? So instead of opening up every shoe box to be sure, maybe I should just get some... ya know... just in case.

Right?

I am currently smitten by all of these. I love the Sedaraby shape. It's a gorgeous shoe.

But do I prefer Raspberry, above, or Purple? Do I love the Raspberry one because the color is called Raspberry? Is it too close in color to my Guess Pyramid heels? Maybe I should just start with Purple and then figure out a way to get the Raspberry too. Oh and did I mention I'd love to have these in white?

I know I wrote about these before, but, I still can't get them out of my mind. Dammit!

And now these. I adore these Viva Lolo heels. They're so adorable and have such a classy shape. The color is so unique. WANT!

I am also seeing a growing obsession for deep peacock teal shoes too. I must be stopped!

Election Day Outfit

On this very important day, inspite of it being dreary rainy dismal day, I got out there to vote. I hope you did too.

In addition to my favorite accessory of the day I wore a black sweater dress from Target, my pink Lou Lou Loves You bow, Nine west Naples booties and (more) funky tights.

I love these bows! Now I need some matching knickers. ; )

Aren't these tights crazy? They're from Target and I luv them. One thing I have to say about Target's tights... they're very soft, almost slippery. They had these in all pink and black but I like the sporadic pink within the white and black.

Did you wear anything special when you went out to vote today?

Ensemble du Jour

It's been a weird week already but the weather! The weather has been great.

On Tuesday I had two meetings so I wore my new plaid suit. I have a bunch of ways I'm going to break this up but I paired the swingy jacket with this brown cami-type top and then my teal Nine West heels.

I also reorganized my drawer of tights (and I have a TON!) so I'm going to be wearing patterned hose and tights all Fall and Winter long. On Monday, I wore a pair of polka dot Calvin Klein stockings which may possibly be my favorite pair ever.

And today I finally wore my fringe-y Roxy tights from Bebaroque. They are delish! I wasn't sure what I was going to wear with them at first but ended up wearing my black and white Mizrahi ruffle dress from Target. And my lovely Lou Lou Loves You bow.

Yes, they are a-dor-able. And look great with my new Facade heels. I should have bought two pairs of these shoes. I like them so much I'm going to wear them out!

What do I wear tomorrow to top these? I'm thinking possibly a skirt and my new kick-ass boots. Hmmm....

Real Flowers, Not Faux

My outfit today was pretty boring - black on black. The jacket had a cute cut but other than that not too special.

But I did take the opportunity to wear my Prada flower heels and I thought I would share some real life pics since I didn't get to when I wore them to the wedding.

So here you go...

They are much more comfortable to wear this time than at the wedding. Maybe because I was having to focus on not stepping into a cobblestone crack and breaking the heel or my ankle.

Not that these pictures are amazing but I put up a bunch more on Flickr - http://www.flickr.com/photos/princesspoochie/

Borrow some money, Get something blue

I haven't seen the movie yet and so I can't speak to all the specific details, but even I know what's the deal with this shoe from the SATC movie.

Here's a much prettier way to get a piece of the movie (better than the Eiffel Tower bag if you ask me) if that's your motivation. I'm guessing that this will become an iconic shoe just like the Sedarabys and the Campari Mary Janes.

They are gorgeous, and in one of my favorite colors.

I wouldn't have turned these down as a wedding gift! Although, the hubby's done his share of finding gorgeous blue shoes. So no complaining allowed from me.

The (soon to be iconic, if they aren't already) Manolo Blahnik Something Blue Satin Pumps are on pre-order now at Neiman Marcus & Bergdorfs.

Let the races begin!

Ensemble du Jour

The Outfit
I so needed to wear some bright cheery colors, so I'm wearing a simple black pencil skirt from Target, a bright blue/green/aqua argyle sweater and my favorite Champagne necklace.

Here's a close-up of the top.

I haven't worn this necklace in a while now... at least a week or two. What the heck? I love it!

The Focal Point
I just realized that I barely wear these Louboutin Helmut heel which is a shame because they are just gorgeous with the most amazing electric blue satin.

I think the shape on these is one of the most elegant ever.

They actually make this shoe with crystals in a burst along the side. I've seen it in black and navy and a gorgeous creme. They're called Helmoon and I'd love love love to find a pair in my size.

Yummy!

Unlike most Louboutins, this style runs big. These are a 35.5 and are kind of loose on me. I'm sure it will be next to impossible to track down a 35 in any color.

I have tomorrow off, so today is my Friday. Thank goodness. It's been a tiring week. I can't wait to do a bunch of errands and crafty ideas tomorrow.

The Family Resemblance

I just happened to stop into Old Navy yesterday and was utterly surprised at the amazing range of new items that are in for Spring and Summer. The store just exploded with color and cute prints. From the shoes and bags to printed shorts and dresses everything just vibrated with color and fun. But it was also tempered with some lovely peaceful, gauzy white dresses, tops and jackets.

Some of my favorites from what I saw were the following. Almost all of these come in other colors and patterns so check them out online or in the store.

I love this color green. I think when I pull out the new stuff I've bought and all of my existing clothes, I'm going to find this color all over the place. It's such a great color green for the warmer months.

I would pair that shrug with this top and then the cute printed shorts below.

How cute is this pattern?

They had a TON of cute clutch purses, some with wooden handles like this one or that had a handle but folded over into a smaller clutch. So fun and summery. I got a pink and orange patterned one that matches a pair of the satin ballet flats.

I also got this wrap dress which comes in an aqua toned version of the pattern. I think this will be great to dress up or down with the flat black sandals I show below, which I also got.

I got this basic safari skirt in the classic khaki here and then a dark more olivey color. I'm sure they will get tons of wear during the summer with my solid tops.

You can really see the Banana Republic/Gap/Old Navy family resemblance in these printed flats. You can't beat the fact that these are less than $20 but have a good satin-y fabric and great colors schemes. I could have bought every version of these but limited myself to only two. That's not too bad, right?

Typically I'm not a huge fan of this style of sandal but it just looked so cool and effortless, I thought I would give them a try. For $15 why not, right? I was torn between the colors they had and almost bought the white as well but I had to restrain myself.

More cute color combos!

I was really surprised by the jewelry they had out. Now I know this isn't fine stuff here, but to knock about in I think it's awfully cute.

I got 3 of these white and "gold" enameled bamboo bangles and then 1 pink one I can mix in.

I came sooo close to buying this ring. Maybe I'll go back and get it.

Wouldn't this bangle be a perfect "safari chic" addition?

And I think this bracelet is just like something you would find a JCrew nowadays. So why pay $50+ when you can pay less than $10?

There are so many other colors and pieces in the store. You really have to go and check them all out.
