Making More with Miu Miu - Miu Miu Fall 2015 RTW Buckle Pumps

I have long been a fan of Miu Miu, especially the shoes that get sent down the runway each season, probably to my detriment.

But Miuccia is such an amazing designer and her eye for detail and continuity is so strong and really just amazing, that it's difficult for me to pass up.

The Fall 2015 RTW Collection was no exception.

This may be my favorite quote about a runway show in recent memory -
"As is often the case in Pradaland, there is always a drop of poison with the sugar-candy consumer desirability of this clothing—and that is what makes it all the more addictive, of course."

Hmmm... maybe that's my new aesthetic guiding principle right there. 

But the designs took the mid-century look and exploded it out with color and excess...

...and Glitter!!!!

Miu Miu does the best glitter. I'm kicking myself that I didn't get one of these two pairs.

 But I did end up with a piece that brings the excess of the runway down into a beautiful pump that I can't stop wearing and the embraces the pink that is very of the moment.

The buckles on the runway were large and colorful and paired with fuzzy heels (which I actually do like but didn't fee quite me).

This pair, which I'm adoring more each day, are simpler.

I'm wearing them with Erin Fetherston dresses and JCrew striped Tippi sweaters paired with cropped jeans. They've been summer but they're going to stay on through Fall again and into Spring.

I can't wait.

Two Years, Too Late?

Two years later, after Wendy Brandes has been extolling the virtues of her Ash Thelma wedge sneakers, I'm on the bandwagon.

These just arrived and I'm curiously excited to try them out.

I don't think these are the exact same shoes but I did love the variety of outfits paired with wedge sneakers in the Pitch Perfect finale (not my typical movie choice - so blame my Pop-loving friend).




Now I want them in white too! Gah!

Out of the Realm

I spotted these Prada boots this evening and they made me stop and ponder for a second.



I don't really like the boots themselves but I do like the boot... "garter", buckle strap... what is it called?

I know I've seen these on vintage equestrian boots... maybe even in Out of Africa... but I can't find a picture of them anywhere.

Now it's going to drive me crazy!

Anyone else know what they are called?

The Outfit
More dresses! I wore my black Gap dress and dark grey cardigan again, but instead of wearing my tea cup heels I decided to pair them with some other red heels.



The Focal Point
Red and copper and crystals... I picked the shoes first, but I wanted to wear this necklace to link the colors together. The garnet crystals sort of mimic the crystals in the decorative buckle on the shoes.



The shoes are called April and are by Paolo. I bought them a while back in Nordstroms. I think they were actually my first pair of wedge heels, which shoes how late to the game I am.







I wasn't a huge fan of the wedge heel at that time and I still don't have many but this one is more subtle and girly and almost stiletto-esque. Plus I love the faux red metallic lizard material and the big crystal-encrusted buckle on the toe strap.





They're comfortable to wear so they would be great for going out in. They're certainly flashy enough!

Borrow some money, Get something blue

I haven't seen the movie yet and so I can't speak to all the specific details, but even I know what's the deal with this shoe from the SATC movie.

Here's a much prettier way to get a piece of the movie (better than the Eiffel Tower bag if you ask me) if that's your motivation. I'm guessing that this will become an iconic shoe just like the Sedarabys and the Campari Mary Janes.



They are gorgeous, and in one of my favorite colors.



I wouldn't have turned these down as a wedding gift! Although, the hubby's done his share of finding gorgeous blue shoes. So no complaining allowed from me.

Ensemble du Jour

I had this whole long post written about the history of fashion filled with insights and then a sneak peek into all these upcoming designers and then...POOF! Blogger died on me and it's all flushed down the drain.

So you get my boring outfit post. Sorry about that.

That Outfit
Simple stuff but it was a casual day and I wanted to wear my new cropped jeans, which I love love love! The red v-neck is from Gap and the softest knit. Very light and comfy. I got it a size too big and now wish I had gone for the smaller size. I hope they make this style again in the fall. I'll definitely stock up.



The Focal Point
For me it was being comfy in my new jeans (they have some stretch and were $17 - so great for this summer) but what I like about them is that they let my shoes be seen. I did end up getting these Nine West sandals. I thought the leather looked great, and it does, as well as the style which is a bit of a departure from me. All the buckles give it a slightly tougher edge than I tend to go for. But I like them.



The buckles on the toe are take a bit of getting used to but they aren't uncomfortable. I think the gold and white combo gives it an upscale classic look.




If I can ever find a khaki pencil skirt I like I will be wearing these with it a lot. They are good basics to build on.

On Friday I wore a simple grey v-neck that had sparkly threads woven in with my Gap denim pencil skirt.



But, oh, the shoes....



Before I was even strongly "aware" of the Celine brand I somehow found these beauties and had had had to have them.



A gorgeous heel and a very comfortable height. And I love the pink lining.



I think the buckles are a bit Roger Vivier but they are such a great graphic counterpoint to the silver croc pattern.



These also came in black, which I seriously coveted too and had much debate about. In the end, I had to go for the silver croc, of course. Aerosoles ended up doing both a black patent and burgundy patent version - I got both of those too. They are some of my best work heels ever.



I love them so much I try not to wear them all the time so I don't wear them out!

Time to Buckle Down

Nine West is continuing to impress me with their latest crop of styles.

I'm very much smitten with these new strappy safari-esque heels. I know I'm a sucker for white heels but these have a tougher element to them unlike some of the others I fancy.



They didn't go overboard with the straps, they look just right. And I think the leather has a Coach texture to them so they seem to have a good quality.



Do I need another pair of white heels? No. Do I think I want them? Yes.




I also like that they have a substantial stacked heel but that it isn't too chunky. They also come in brown leather, but I much prefer the white.

The Outfit
This looks remarkably similar to my other outfit from the tea party, but it isn't the same, I promise! I did wear another black v-neck top but the skirt is a shorter pleated skirt in black. I'm wearing the black version of my patent leather Aerosole heels with the silver buckle. I am wearing my Champagne necklace because it works so well to tie in the silver buckle on the shoes.





The Focal Point
I loved the look how Gala pulled her leggings down over her heels so I decided to do the same with my new turquoise leggings from Target (bought on sale).



It's funny how a few inch difference gives a whole new feel to the piece.




I feel like a dancer on the way to class.

Imitation = Flattery?

Earlier in the Fall I was looking around for some strappy mary jane-esque shoes to wear with all of my new tights and knee-highs, etc. and remembered that Nine West had some tougher looking buckle shoes. I ordered two pairs, got them, tried them on and decided to return them.

I knew they were knocking-off some shoe and at first I couldn't think of what they were. But then I remembered... they were the Chloe Triple Strap Pumps.




I think these are kind of pretty, but even though are are on sale at Net-a-Porter (30% off from $650), I don't like them $455 worth. But I do like the cream and gold.

These are the Nine West Cascada heels that I bought:





They actually fit pretty well and I think they would have worked out but I returned them. The metal strip on the base of the heel was not well done. It looked more like it was metallic tape just stuck onto the heel.

I think if they had left that off they would have been a lot better, as I liked both colors. If I had kept one of them it would have been the grey. I do think I prefer the two straps to the three on the Chloe shoe.
