I wish I could wear this tee to work...
But I think it would fall apart if I actually wore it as often as I feel it.
Instead I wore it to trivia night last night to intimidate all the geeks and hipsters. We came in 2nd place.
All because of the shirt? Maybe.......

Back to Basics
Maybe its the fact that I've been a slacker for two weeks but I've been wanting more casual stuff. Tees and sneakers. Of course I could drop a quick grand at JCrew because I'm always in love with their glam preppy style but what I'm tracking down right now is this girly jersey shirt. I actually saw it in a restaurant's shop with their slogan on it, but they stopped carrying the product. While I would have loved their branded shirt too, I'm happy with the plain, as long as I can get the fuchsia on pink and the pink on chocolate. I even have some matching sneakers to wear with them!
But the charcoal grey and pink is sweet as well. And those grommets will keep your feet cool too, I bet.
And the black and sky blue is great too.
I've found the prices for this brand varies all over the web. It's best to do a search and see what you can find, but the range as been from $25 - $60. They have some other sweet styles like cute oversized gingham in pale pink and a light tan that I'm also keeping my eye on.
But the real classics I love, besides Keds of course, are Converse Chuck Taylors. I started with white high-tops and off-white/natural low-tops, then got red low-tops, sequin ones and pink high-tops. I'm obsessed.
I really want to get a pair of basic black ones, but have held off. Maybe now is the time.
But Converse does some amazing seasonal colors. Right now their rolling out their Spring seasonal colors and they are just too adorable. If I could, I'd get them all but since I have to narrow it down, I think I want this gorgeous lavender "Lupine". I'd wear it with a sparkly necklace and lavender cardigan paired with jeans, a denim skirt or even dressing down a pencil skirt.
And this yellow, and yellow isn't even a color I really wear, has sucked me in. It's called "Lemonade" on the site but it reminds me of the light yellow SweeTarts. I needs them!
Okay, I need to go troll the web for some coupon codes, because I think I am going to have to get them all!
And speaking of sneakers, I can't stop thinking about buying more. Maybe it is the influence of all that oxford-wearing in the Fall, or the fact that I've barely put on anything other than Sorels, wellies or my Moroccan slippers for the last two weeks, but I'm not shopping the sales for heels. I'm wanting tons of sneakers!
I'm particularly wanting the be-ribboned Satire sneakers from Simple. I really love the brown (bison) and blue ribbon combination on the hemp ones here.

Taking Stock
I usually need to get a few cardigans and sweaters each Fall. I end am able to hold them over for a few years but I wear them a lot and they tend to get worn out. I usually go to Target for some basics in solid colors and then JCrew for nicer v-necks.
But this year, I'm not shopping at Target.
I stopped spending my money there when they stopped supporting people's rights by funding anti-LGBT rights politicians. Now I don't support them.
So I've spent my money elsewhere. I am looking for more more independent sources but also bought a few items at Gap.
I was smitten by these stripes, especially the black and white one. Usually I buy argyle but I think I OD'd on argyle so I'm backing away this year. These are especially comfy as I'm wearing the navy/red one right now with a denim skirt, navy tights and lace-up mid-calf boots.
I searched out a good promo code online so I got all of these for a pretty big discount.
How do you stock up for Fall?

I'm finally getting to wear my olive green items (outfit post to follow). I found a great olive sequined top that I wore under my jacket from YOOX and this cardigan is going to be the lighter version of that. Plus, it's a great green to pair up with all sorts of colors.
V-neck sweaters are what I wear all winter long. I got this in charcoal, purple, navy and tomato red.
Cowlneck is my second favorite neckline. I'm sticking pretty close to my palette of greys and blacks but I like the fun stripe too.

Cookie Monster Cure-All
It's been raining for days here and I've been busy with work and other things to plan, so I feel like I've been lacking in inspiration. I'm also trying to avoid temptation until I go to Ireland.
But there is one thing that's actually made me smile and make me wish it came in my size... these kids tees by Morfs at Barneys.

I particularly love the pink Cookie Monster tee with giraffe-y sleeves. It's not like Cookie Monster was my favorite but this is so cute.

I love that it's done as an applique.
Maybe some real cookies can pep me up since I don't get the shirt.

Ensemble du Jour
So I'm trying to mix it up more and take more outfit pictures. Sadly this won't be one of the best because my camera is bugging me.
I combined my Stella Neptune tee with a swapped jacket, added a few vintage rhinestone pins, a denim skirt and my silver Miu Miu double strap mary janes.

My bad pics...

I really need a new camera.

I ♥ Sales
Well, we went and shopped.
What we were supposed to be out shopping for were new dog beds for the pups and kitties, a new sweater for my oldest pup (since he's all knotted up and I'm going to have to give him a haircut and he's going to freeze), and some kitchen stuff from Sur La Table (yes, I desperately needed a new butane refill for my brulee torch, it's been hell having to broil our Christmas grapefruits, and I need CO2 cartridges for my whipper and, yes, I needed to get Rose and Lavender extracts to possibly make some yummy cupcakes and frosting!). And we got all those things including the two largest dog beds I've ever seen. I think I could sleep on one of them comfortably.
But I also stopped into JCrew (it's right next door!) and they had all this stuff marked down and then they were taking an additional 25% off! I'm serious!
It was absolutely crazy in there since it's always overcrowded no matter what. Finally the hubby went to sit outside as he was bored out of his mind and couldn't find any of the stuff I was trying to get him to help me track down. But I did end up with a bunch of stuff, all marked down really well including:
Sequin Crest Tee - marked down to $15 (from $49.50)

Black V-neck sweater with sparkly silver Scottie - marked down to $38 (from $78)

Postcard Merino Wool Cardigan - marked down to $53 (from $110)

Vintage Glitter Critter Waffle Tee - marked down to $15 (from $39.50) Mine's actually Scottie dogs and one Scottie is gold.

Sparkle Tartan Madeline blouse in Midnight - marked down to $15 (from $78)

Sparkle Tartan Madeline blouse in Pine Green - marked down to $15 (from $78)

Burlington Tartan Mini - marked down to $45 (from $98)

Pretty good, huh? A lot of these are available online but in limited sizes. And I've noticed they are going fast, so head over to the final sale!

Ensemble du Jour
I have to admit that I have been kind of slack lately. Work has been going crazy. I keep having these presentations to do - fitting them in among all of the regular work that I have to do. The hours of the day seem to just fly by. Regardless, I resolve to post a bunch over the weekend.
The Outfit
I was doing a mix of high and low today. I paired a dark green silk-screened tee from Etsy with a jeans skirt and then my very glam Hype heels.

What I like about these heels is that they are very ornate in a great color. But what I love about them is the mesh/tulle that is wrapped around the toe of the heel (the darker areas in the image). The jewels are a very bright topaz color with a bronze-y setting.

The Focal Point
The graphic on my shirt is my focal point today. I love the color and the muted glam image. The green is a great color for me. I tried to play against the juxtaposition of the casual tee and skirt by using the fancier shoe and I pulled out some more ornate jewelry. I wore a vintage bracelet that has a large garnet stones interspersed with intricate links that have embedded pearls. My right had ring is set in gold and is an opal surrounded by dark rubies.

Very 200 years ago paired with a modern casual silhouette.
