What's Black and White and Read all Over?

Hopefully this blog!

Okay, enough silliness. Here is my amazingly black and white outfit for the day.

The Outfit
This, thank goodness, was one of those "Aack! I'm totally late" outfits. Something I know will be appropriate and comfortable but, yeah, not amazingly inspired or creative.

You can't go too wrong with black and white. And since I'm still carrying around my emerald green Dooney, I get an injection of color in there.

The skirt is so neutral. You could pretty much get this anywhere and wear it anywhere it is would be fine. A bit boring? Perhaps. But sometimes that's about as inventive as my 2 minutes to get dressed gets me. Eh.

At least the shoes are cool.

These are Miu Miy Vernice Pop heels. What I liked most about them was the way the crazy heel goes up the back of the shoe.

Funky, right?

So neutral skirt, modern shoe. I need to get back to my outfit planning. I'm relying too much on my shoes for giving my outfit some personality. And it would help if I went to bed at a decent hour so I could actually get up on time and get my act together in the morning rather than rushing around at the last minute!

Ensemble du Jour

The Outfit
So I'm finally back at work and back in heels. Yeah! I've been holding out on wearing my Miu Miu Vernice heels (the ones I was debating about a while ago). I decided to keep them, obviously but I feel justified because Saks did a one day sale and had them 30% off! I had to go through the hassle of ordering a new pair and sending back my original ones, but it's a big savings, so it's worth it. They also has the La Silla Stardust heels on sale too, so I got those as well.

I wore this dress to dinner over when I was in Orlando (paired with Manolo black mary janes) and liked it so much , I decided to wear it today. It's a new Mizrahi polo dress with a white ruffle collar from Target. My tights from JCrew that were on back order also arrived on my doorstep while we were away, so I paired the graphic black and white with bright bright pink!

yeah, I stick my butt out just like that in this dress, cause, ya know I love my boo-tay.

The Focal Point
While I think the shoes are amazing and unique, I'm sure people are blinded by my hot pink legs, so I guess they are the focal point today. But just for fun, let's take another view of these uber-cool shoes:

Imitation = Flattery?

Okay, now I'm really ticked off!

My love for Miu Miu's shoes this Fall has been well documented (here, here, and here). Look at the inspired and elegant design and colors of the Miu Miu shoes. The colors are balanced and the material is of a quality that keeps a design that could be "busy" or too masculine looking classy and feminine.

Even the more exuberant color combinations and styles look quirky and fun.

And these shoes are like no other ones out there for Fall. There was a lot of menswear styles being put out, but these were unmistakable. And I fell for them hard.

Now Steve Madden, the notorious design thief (past offenses here and here), has finally crossed my line with "his" new Spec heels!

WTF?!?!?

They look cheap and plastic and, while some of his color combinations are okay, most of them are TACKY!

These are not all of the color combinations available, there are more on the site. But I think these last two are the worst! The actually offend me!

Can we say "clown shoes"?

Ugh!

Can somebody please sue this company already? I like nice styles that are affordable but I don't like blatant theft of intellectual property.

Should I stay or should I go?

I know I've been a little obsessed with Miu Miu this Fall, but they keep making these amazing shoes. I can't help myself! When I first saw these black and white heels I just thought they were channeling the YSL Tribute shoe (which I truly love).

But then I got them.

They are actually unique and pretty amazing. The heel has a very modern sculpted quality about them. They are retro and futuristic - like mid-century modern and the Jetsons combined.

An obvious outfit pairing would be all black - very streamlined with some decadent jewelry and opaque black tights. But they would look great paired with strong greens and reds too. And I have tons of black and white graphic patterned skirts I could wear them with.

But I'm debating. Would money be better spent elsewhere?

I do think these are unique and worth it but there are so many other tempting options as well. I'm kind of torn. And if I'm torn, should I send them back.

I'm thinking, I'm thinking...
